The royal wedding, Lego-style

Just to prove anything is possible with a Lego set, the model makers at Legoland Windsor in England have created their own version of the royal wedding.

Sure, all the people are made of plastic mini-bricks, but look closely and you start to see the resemblance to real-world figures. There's Kate and William, of course, and Harry with a hint of red hair, and the Queen's corgis, and even a few celebrities in the crowd -- a pregnant Victoria Beckham, Paul McCartney, and Elton John with his baby.

The fantasy builders at Lego used 160,000 little bricks and it took more than 550 hours to assemble the replica of Buckingham Palace alone, using a 1:50 scale.

Buidling all the people to create the scene took more than 30 hours using 10,000 bricks. Each person is made of 30-40 bricks with an average height of 10 centimetres.

The scene will no doubt create some traffic to the Legoland Windsor site, which celebrates its 15th birthday on April 1.
