With Kate and William happily married and about to embark on their first major tour, the ravenous British media is once again tuning into more pressing matters … like Pippa Middleton’s love life.
The fascination with Pippa’s every move continues unabated, even in the absence of a single word from the world’s most eligible bachelorette.
On one hand, the Daily Mail reports that Pippa and longtime boyfriend Alex Loudon have not, as widely reported, called it quits. In fact, the report says, she and Loudon will be attending an event in a few weeks.
On another hand, the same paper is reporting that Prince Harry and Pippa may be “on the verge of becoming an item.”
The pair have even given each other nicknames, according to Grazia magazine. Pippa apparently calls Harry “Captain,” a natural enough reference considering that’s his military rank. Harry’s name for Pippa is “Commando,” which has nothing to do with the military and everything to do with the seamless white dress she wore at her sister’s wedding that suggested she may have been without undergarments.
It beats 'Her Royal Hotness,' which has followed her around since the April 29 wedding.
The magazine goes on to quote an “insider” who says the pair has been supporting each other through the recent (rumoured) breakups: “They speak on the phone all the time and have met up at least five times since the wedding, once for tea at his Clarence House apartments... She thinks he’s got a really cheeky sense of humour.”
Harry and Chelsy Davy are supposedly on the outs -– again -- and she has been left off the guest list for the July 30 wedding of Harry’s cousin, Zara Phillips, to Mike Tindall. Meanwhile, Pippa has been seen in the company of several men, including Harry, in recent weeks. The name that pops up most, however, is former University of Edinburgh mate George Percy, a multi-millionaire who also employs Pippa at his environmental company.
In another business, hip-hop king Usher is chasing Pippa for a lingerie business he starting.
"I don't think there's a more beautiful, more stunning, more talked-about woman in the world at the moment." he told Look magazine in the UK. "I'm going to be approaching her in the next few weeks and setting up a meeting this summer."
In stating the obvious, he added: "She won't be cheap, but she has the looks and the popularity to really establish a new product."
Making the waters ever murky are more anonymous quotes from Middleton’s friends, including this one: "Pippa and George are friends, but that is all. (Middleton) doesn’t fancy George at all, she’s very into Alex."
Apparently, she and Loudon “make a point of seeing each other very privately.”
Private, obviously, is not a word to describe Pippa’s life these days.
