Where did Kate’s ring go?
NOW YOU SEE IT ...
... NOW YOU DON'T
When Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge walked into the Royal Marsden Hospital in Surrey on Thursday to help open a new children’s cancer unit, she was wearing her now trademark sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
When she left, it was nowhere to be seen. The only ring left on her finger was her gold wedding band.
What’s going on? Did it slip off in one of the hospital wards? Maybe stolen by some clever pick-finger artist? Sold to some enterprising doctor?
Alas, the truth was not quite so dramatic.
Turns out Kate was advised to take off the ring for hygiene reasons by hospital staff. She compiled, putting the ring that once belonged to Princess Diana into her clutch purse while she and William visited with patients.’
“The plan was always to take it off when she went into the ward in the same way the Duke and palace staff rolled up sleeves and tucked ties into their shirts,” a palace spokesman told People magazine.
However, it appears the ring was only piece of jewellery she was asked to remove. Her silver cross necklace and Kiki McDonough diamond earrings remained intact.
Of course, the Prince didn’t have to remove any rings ... he doesn’t wear any.
