'Circus' act killed Pippa's romance
Pippa Middleton was already in the class of the world’s ‘most sought-after women.’
But this is one class Alex Loudon wasn’t interested in attending anymore.
It was Loudon, not Pippa, who put the two-year relationship out of its misery last week, says the Daily Mail.
Indeed. Pippa has drawn attention around the globe since her appearance at the royal wedding in April, with the press following her every movement. While she has not courted the press, she hasn’t shied away either. And the party invitations have only ramped up.
It has been a delicate balance -- trying to capitalize on new-found celebrity while not embarrassing her sister Kate and her new-found extended family in the Windsor household. Loudon has tried his best to stay out the spotlight, though he has made a few public appearances with her, notably after it was rumoured they had split earlier this year.
Just a few weeks ago, long after Pippa had taken up semi-residence with him in London, it was reported that he was ready to take the step with an engagement ring. Apparently not.
“He hated the fact they were followed by paparazzi and he avoided going out because of it,” one friend told the Mail. “Alex is very strait-laced. He loves his family and his friends and has no time for celebrity.”
Neither did Loudon’s folks. “Alex’s parents were welcoming but they were always somewhat lukewarm about the relationship,” one unnamed Pippa pal said. “They didn’t see Pippa as ‘wife material’.”
Combine that with the recently reported arguments the couple have been having -– some of them in public view -– and it added up to an split-in-progress.
Nevertheless, when Loudon finally cut the cord, it hit Pippa hard, and she retreated to sister Kate for a shoulder to cry on at Balmoral Castle. How long she will be in a funk is anyone’s guess, but as least one pal suggested this is a mere blip in her long-range plans.
“In a week or two she will be sparkling at some high-end event, flashbulbs a go go, because that is what the Middleton girls are expected to do,” an insider told the Mail. “The Middleton mantra is grin and bear it. There’s no puffy eyes or hiding behind closed doors, at least not for too long.”
