ABC releases teaser of Couric's William and Harry interview
ABC is ramping up their Diamond Jubilee hype, today releasing a preview of Katie Couric's interview with Princes William and Harry, which is scheduled for broadcast on May 29.
In a blog post today, ABC promises "Unprecedented Access to the Royal Family".
In the preview clip (see below), we learn that you don't mess with grandma (The Queen), and that she has not 'friended' Harry on Facebook. That and Buckingham Palace appears to have a secret door someplace. Judging by the tropical-looking fawna in the Harry clips, it's a safe bet that Couric didn't talk to the younger prince in jolly old England.
The interview is a key part of ABC's jubilee coverage, which includes a broadcast of Good Morning America live from London on June 4 and 5, and special broadcasts of World News with Diane Sawyer and Nightline. ABC also has the U.S. rights for a jubilee concert.
ABC has the exclusive American broadcast rights to “Concert for The Queen: A Diamond Jubilee Celebration,” which features a veritable who’s who of the music world including Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Tom Jones, Annie Lennox, Kylie Minogue, Stevie Wonder, Will I Am from the Black Eyed Peas and young recording sensation Jessie J. In addition to the performances showcased on the special, Katie Couric will take viewers backstage for an unprecedented view of the festivities, including interviews with the concert’s biggest stars.
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, TRH Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Catherine, Prince Harry and other members of the royal family will be in attendance at the concert, which is being held in front of Her Majesty The Queen’s residence, Buckingham Palace. The evening will also include fireworks and a light show.
