Duchess Kate pregnant? Expect December announcement, says friend
After endless months of false baby rumours swirling around Prince William and his wife Kate, it's hard to take any of them seriously.
But maybe, just maybe, there's a little more credibility in this latest one.
A friend of Kate's (at least for the moment), has told an Australian magazine, New Idea, in a "world exclusive" that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are ready to make a baby announcement next month.
"William and Kate are focused on starting a family," said Jessica Hay, a former classmate of Kate's at Marlborough College and a guest at the couple's 2011 wedding.
"It seems very traditional, but of course they’ll be happy with boys or two girls, they don’t want more," she told the magazine in predicting a December announcement. "They’ve discussed it endlessly and don’t want to be older parents."
Is Hay to be believed? Well, she does have the Kate connection, and is one of the few people from the Duchess's past who has openly talked about her, though that kind of attention wouldn't sit well with the royals. She has traded on her connections before, with some dubious claims about bullying and such, in what appears to be pretty shameless self-promotion.
However, Will and Kate have never made a secret of their desire to start a family, which has prompted more Kate baby bump sightings than seen in your average rabbit. There's no doubt the stars are aligning for the couple -- they've finished their heavy touring, the move to a permanent Kensington home is slated for the new year, and William is predicted to be backing off his RAF commitments to take up more royal duties.
A baby is the next natural step. An announcement, if Hay is correct, would make quite a Christmas present at the Queen's annual family gathering at Sandringham.
In the meantime, the royal couple has a pretty full schedule of public appearances, plenty enough for offspring observers to stare at Kate's stomach. She'l be at the Natural History Museum in London next Tuesday and in Cambridgeshire Wednesday. Next month, the royals' engagement calendar includes the premiere of the movie 'The Hobbit' on Dec. 12.
