| Derrick Hodgson's whimsical entry. |
I'm not the most easily impressed when it comes to video games, but I am already an unabashed lover of Nintendo's Wii console, which just keeps getting better. Nintendo and Magic Pony (the uber cool toy store/gallery on Queen St. W.) have partnered up for an innovative contest called The Art of Wii. Basically, they got six cutting-edge artists to funkify a Wii case in their own style, which will go to six lucky users who sign up online. Artists include Gary Taxali, Arnold Tsang, Derrick Hodgson and local MC Kardinal Offishall.
While all the designs are great, it's Kardi’s version that rocks my socks off. Designed with artist Allister Lee, it’s features a Jack Kirby-inspired, militant army type making up most of image. I think it’s loosely based on Stalker from G.I. Joe, but it also really screams Black Power. Could it be any cooler?
