Welcome to Walt Disney Concert Hall, from the comfort of your favourite Cineplex screen
The Metropolitan Opera has made a roaring success out of its live Saturday forays into movie theatres. Now the Los Angeles Philharmonic is going to get into the game, on Sunday afternoons, starting Jan. 9. If this three-concert experiment works out, it could mean a whole new life and exposure for symphony concerts across the continent.
Symphony is not as sexy as opera -- except when the conductor is Gustavo Dudamel, the LA Phil's charismatic music director. The producers promise Met-style backstage interviews, as well as post-concert Q&A sessions with Dudamel.
