Sneak-peek listen of Simone Dinnerstein's new, all-Bach album on National Public Radio until Jan. 18
New Yorker pianist Simone Dinnerstein is about to release A Strange Beauty, a new, all-Bach album. It's her first album for Sony Classical and features a combination of solo piano and concertos (Nos 1 & 5). It also mixes pure J.S. Bach with transcriptions by Ferrucio Busoni, Wilhelm Kempff and Myra Hess.
I expect to have a full review in the Star on Jan. 18.
I've been listening to the album in fits and starts for more than a month, and find the mix of interpretive styles to be intellectually and aesthetically provocative.
You can make up your mind on what to make of this at the same time as me, by listening to free streaming of the full album, to Jan. 18, on National Public Radio.
