Don Cherry is right (This is not a typo)

Don't worry, the sun did not rise in the west this morning and the Earth is still spinning on its axis. Regardless, for about the ninth time in a decade I'm going to agree with Don Cherry.

His Hockey Night In Canada comments on Alexander Ovechkin's staged celebration of his 50th goal were not only bang on Saturday, but, dare we say, tasteful. The collar that walks like a man didn't suggest, as he has before, that someone's going to break the Washington star in half for his overly exuberant celebrations.

Instead, he showed some class in praising Ovechkin's play and class, but knocking his much-publicized celebration.

"He's not taunting," Cherry said. "He's just having a good time." Then, he added, "You're above stuff like this."

Cherry's only shortcoming was his feigned inability to remember Ovechkin's name, an obvious dig at Ovechkin calling Cherry's show "Coach's Room."

Yes I will admit that Cherry was very classy in his comments. I was expecting the usual rant from him including someone is going to take Ovie out. However, I have no problem with Ovie's celebration especially when it's his 50th goal. No I wouldn't like him doing this for every goal but for a milestone like 50 goals, let the guy have a little fun.

well at least Cherry got this one right. Most of the time he just talking hot air. Carl Parisien Natick MA

I'm torn about the whole thing, not that anyone reading this cares about that really. I'm actually just writing to say that I think this is going to be a really good blog, Props Chris
