Keith Pelley now heading Rogers Media

Keith Pelley, who oversaw the CTV-Rogers consortium's coverage of the Vancouver Olympics, has been named president of Rogers Media.

The announcement was made Tuesday morning. Pelley will replace Tony Viner, who has retired.

Pelley, who rejoined the CTV group after a stint as president of the Toronto Argonauts, will oversee all aspects of Rogers media properties from television (Sportsnet) to radio (including the FAN 590) and magazines.

His departure from the Olympic Consortium means that it will be seeking someone to oversee the 2012 London Olympics.

First order of business, please Mr Pelley, get the Blue Jays back on regular Sportsnet Channels or make sure Bell Expressvu get Sportsnet One HD :(

I miss my Jays :(

Was expecting an article by now on the clusterf--- that is Rogers and their new Sportsnet One channel!!

good to see, former argos president, Kieth Pelly taking the reigns at sportsnet.

maybe sportsnet will be in the mix for the next CFL tv contract, and put an end to the networks weak tv lineup!

Chris, any way for you to ask Pelley about the debacle that is Sportsnet One (re: Jays games) and if there are any plans to put the games back on the regular Sportsnet channels?

The first thing Mr. Pelley should do is explain to Rogers that it's bad business to move previously-scheduled games onto a specialty channel that many of the loyal viewers have no access to. I've been following the Jays fairly close all season for the first time since the championship years and now all of the sudden I can't get certain games? And it's not like I can get the channel even if I wanted to. Way to kill the momentum of something that was on the upswing. It took the Jays 17 years to get my interest back and one greedy move to make me lose interest again. As I've said before, I'll just catch the highlights on Sports Centre from now on.

@Daniel: Chris already wrote about that for the newspaper, not the blog. The article appeared on Friday or Saturday on the Star's sports homepage.

I really don't care too much about watching the jays - just usually watch the highlights only and I do get SN1. But moving Jays to it when the existing Sportsnet channels have plenty of junk programming on it - wow, I have to admire the galls of Rogers.

Last Saturday, existing Sportsnet was showing movie while Jays were on SN1 is basically akin to Rogers teasing a cat with a string. At least TSN had a packed schedule that it could barely fit in the Raptors games and it was really Rogers again dissing their subscribers just to make some point.

I for one am boycotting all Rogers products and services, first it was this Bills in Toronto thing, then the complete garbage ownership of the Jays, all they care about is getting subscribers. This Sportsnet One should be only on Rogers, Shaw and Bell should stay away from this...Rogers is the most abusive cash grabbing company in Canada. They have FAR more than enough space on their 4 CHANNELS to air those games...all this is for is to get more subscribers and more $$$$ for Rogers. Well Rogers can take their ONE and shove it!! I'm glad Telus and Shaw treat their customers with an incling of respect and respect their opinions, the people running Rogers deserve an investigation by the CRTC
