FAN morning host choice is Krystal clear

Apparently Andrew Krystal has impressed The FAN 590 so much in his first month on the job, the station has given him a major promotion. Sources say Krystal will become the all-sports station's morning show host after Calgary's Mike Richards turned down the FAN's offer last week.

The move may be temporary, though, with Krystal moving back to the 9-to-noon spot once a permanent host is found for the crucial morning slot. But if Krystal can score solid ratings over the next 12 weeks, he may get the job full-time.

So very sad...looked forward to reading you always. Thank you Toronto Star..
Chris ,you can always chirp in on TSM....Sadly I say GOOD LUCK!!!

I am sorry to hear that Chris, as I enjoyed your columns very much on the state of sports media. I had also been wondering why the non-stop Argos articles without any sports media coverage, so now I got my answer.

The Star is making a colossal mistake here. There is more passion related to the media covering the sports and the personalities behind them often than the sports teams themselves.

Dowbiggin's columns have no bite to them, so he is not even an alternative. I go daily and comment frequently at www.torontosportsmedia.com and their content has been steadily increasing, no doubt related to the majors not caring much, if at all regarding this topic.

BOL Chris in your future endeavours. Does this mean you are now covering the Argos full time, or on a freelance basis, or are you done completely with the Star?

Wow - brutal to hear. Chris, the Star has missed the boat completely on this - of course this is common practice for them.
Good luck - you're a great writer

JGH

So will there be ANYWHERE that we can find the ratings? Or will people resume their false belief that American sports are all we care about? PLEASE! WE NEED RATINGS POSTED!

I find this strange,
The Star no longer wants you to have this blog, yet its still here?
Like how long could it take to reproduce the TV ratings for each week?
Hopefully there wasn't pressure from above to stop making baseball, basketball and the NFL look so bad every week in comparison to hockey and the CFL?

I've read this blog/column for years..I realized that I hadn't read anything in a month, what has happened?

Is this thing officially dead. Tor Star please let us know.

This is a sad day. I have been following your column in thestar ever since you were first introduced, I think around 9-10 years ago. I even followed it online, though less frequently, when I spent 2 years backpacking around the world.
Good luck with whatever you do from now on Chris!! Your columns will be missed.
