R.I.P Sydney Pollack The Oscar-winning director of Out of Africa has died from cancer at 73. Three Days of the Condor, Tootsie and The Shoot Horses, Don't They? are among his many movies. He also acted, and one of his last roles was with George Clooney in Michael Clayton. Clooney said in a statement: “Sydney made the world a little better, movies a little better and even dinner a little better. A tip of the hat to a class act. He’ll be missed terribly.” Obituaries here and here .
Sheryl Crow kinda mentions that bicyclist At the freezingly cold concert at the Amphitheatre last night, Crow played to a not-exactly-sold-out house. It was a good show. Not the kind of show that sends you on a 24-hour high-from-the-music deal, but very nice and energetic. There was very limited stage banter, but she did a quick run-down of what's been happening in her life: beating cancer, adopting son Wyatt, and "I got engaged. I got unengaged." She must be happy that someone else, namely Kate Hudson has taken over PDA duty with the increasingly creepy Lance Armstrong.
