While you were sleeping

DYLAN MARTINEZ/REUTERS
Robert DeNiro, who looks like he's hoping for a high bran content in his meal, and his wife Grace Hightower, on their way to last night's Nelson Mandela dinner.

A slew of famous people have dinner with Nelson Mandela Starting tomorrow's birthday celebrations early, Mr. and Mrs. Will Smith, Uma Thurman, Oprah, Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker and ... Wait. Uma and Oprah? Really? David Letterman cringed when he saw that on the news. More E!online.

Some people we fortunately hadn't yet gotten attached to are booted from Canadian Idol They are: Lindsay Barr, 26, who sang "Burning Love," Shaun Francisco, 25, who sang "Yellow," Tetiana Ostapowich, 25, "Feelings," Lindsay Robins, 21, "River Deep Mountain High." Canadian Idol.

Everyone loves a cute robot The reviews are a bit sunnier this week. Last week's smack-down of The Love Guru and the lukewarm reception of Get Smart are replaced with accolades for WALL-E, which is right now at 92 per cent fresh on Rotten Tomatoes . One of the reviewers gushes that, "Stanton and Pixar have achieved a new plateau in their craft, creating what's destined to be a beloved classic, right up there with the likes of Snow White, Bambi and Cinderella ..."  The Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy action fest, Wanted gets 81 per cent fresh and even one of the negative reviewers has to admit that, "Wanted is as stylish as it is foolish, but it has one thing going for it: exploding rats." I'm so there.

Do you want to believe? Here are a couple of new clips from the X-Files movie. And here is the trailer for Guy Ritchie's RocknRolla, which looks pretty much exactly like his other movies. That's not necessarily a bad thing, just saying.

This just in: Bennifer 2 is 100 per cent happy Those lousy break-up rumours from yesterday? So not true, says Jennifer Garner's spokesmodel to Us Weekly. "There is not one ounce of truth to it." Okey, then. Moving on.

Let's hope he's not too busy cashing his spousal support checks According to In Touch , some denim brand wants Kevin Federline be the face of the brand and is trying to lure him with a seven-figure deal.

Concerning Robert DeNiro at the Nelson Mandela birthday dinner: Prune juice and vodka might do the trick.

Canadian Idol contestant, Tetiana Ostapowich, who sang "Feelings,"
didn't do anything to assuage my feelings.

Is K-Fed still on wife-support?

Stargazing blog by Malene Arpe

  • Malene’s interests and hobbies include Schadenfreude, sci-fi and fantasy (good and bad alike), hilarious hair pieces, age-inappropriate celebrity crushes, messed-up starlets, waiting for the next Star Trek movie, hating Björk, creative profanity, disobedient robots, fake celebrity relationships, post-apocalyptic dread, singing super-villains, baseball, David Beckham (but only when he keeps his mouth shut), vampires and knitting tiny sweaters for her seven cats. That’s not true. Maybe.
