While you were sleeping

Clarkkent ... brought to you by a ridiculously photoshopped Clark Kent.

Group upset over Abigail Breslin "Should producers have chosen a deaf or blind child actress to play Helen Keller in this winter’s Broadway revival of “The Miracle Worker”? The producers announced on Wednesday that Abigail Breslin, would play Helen in the production, which is set to open this winter. Sharon Jensen, executive director of the Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts ... said that her organization strongly opposed a decision by the producers to not audition actresses for the part who shared Helen’s disabilities. “We do not think it’s O.K. for reputable producers to cast this lead role without seriously considering an actress from our community,” Ms. Jensen said. “I understand how difficult it is to capitalize a new production on Broadway, but that to me is not the issue. There are other, larger human and artistic issues at stake here.” ... “It’s simply naïve to think that in this day and age, you’ll be able to sell tickets to a play revival solely on the potential of the production to be a great show or on the potential for an unknown actress to give a breakthrough performance,” producer David Richenthal said. “I would consider it financially irresponsible to approach a major revival without making a serious effort to get a star.” New York Times.

Taylor Swift has photo taken with idiot Some douche with a swastika finger-painted on his t-shirt was photographed next to Taylor Swift at Katy Perry's birthday party. Taylor's rep says Taylor was photographed with about a hundred people and didn't notice. The idiot guy says he doesn't know Taylor and that he didn't plan to paint a swastika. TMZ is all over it.

Charlize Theron in new Mad Max "Charlize Theron is revving up for "Mad Max: Fury Road," with producer-director George Miller set to start filming next August in Australia. British actor Tom Hardy ("Black Hawk Down") will also star opposite Theron.. Thesps are the first major castings announced in the fourth version of the futuristic "Mad Max" franchise, which has been dormant for 2½ decades." Variety.

More Men in Black I remember seeing Men in Black II on the IMAX screen. Despite it being loud and big and bright, both my companions - yes, mom and yes, sweetie, I'm looking at you - fell fast asleep. I managed to stay awake, but still believe I would have been better off snoozing as well. Maybe I'll have another chance for a nap: "Sony is moving forward on “MIB 3"... Tropic Thunder” writer Etan Cohen is penning the script, and Barry Sonnenfeld, who helmed the first two films, is said to be attached to  the new  installment, though there is no formal deal or offer as yet. The X-factor remains Will Smith. The A-lister, who starred  with Tommy Lee Jones in the first two, has not committed to the pic,  though in recent days the buzz in development circles has been that he  is now interested in returning. Smith does not currently have a go movie lined up.Tommy Lee Jones’ involvement is uncertain." Hollywood Reporter.

And finally ... You all know how I love a good cake and this one is really exciting. Apparently this Lil Wayne concoction was the birthday cake created for Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger's daughter and it's up there with the top cakes ever in the history of rapper cakes.

"More Men in Black:" The last time I saw Will Smith in a movie, he was battling a big bug on a subway train. It didn't bother me, though. I've seen scarier things on the Bloor/Danforth subway...

Stargazing blog by Malene Arpe

  • Malene’s interests and hobbies include Schadenfreude, sci-fi and fantasy (good and bad alike), hilarious hair pieces, age-inappropriate celebrity crushes, messed-up starlets, waiting for the next Star Trek movie, hating Björk, creative profanity, disobedient robots, fake celebrity relationships, post-apocalyptic dread, singing super-villains, baseball, David Beckham (but only when he keeps his mouth shut), vampires and knitting tiny sweaters for her seven cats. That’s not true. Maybe.
