Hobbit_feet Del Toro quits The Hobbit

From Scifiwire: "It seems like getting The Hobbit movies done continues to be far more difficult than it should be given how many people want to see them (and how big the resulting box office money would be). After numerous delays it seemed like the movies were finally on track until TheOneRing.Net dropped this bombshell: Guillermo Del Toro announced today that he is no longer directing the two movies based on J.R.R Tolkien's "The Hobbit", but will continue to co-write the screenplays. Out of respect to the legions of loyal Tolkien fans, both Guillermo and Peter Jackson wanted to break the news to The One Ring first. They are both committed to protecting The Hobbit and will do everything in their power to ensure the films are everything that the fans want them to be. Del Toro told the site: "In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming "The Hobbit," I am faced with the hardest decision of my life", says Guillermo. "After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien's Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures."

Let the fight over Dennis Hopper's money begin "Dennis Hopper may have died peacefully, but TMZ has learned a war is about to erupt over his estate - partially because Dennis died a married man. Dennis had been desperately trying to divorce Victoria Hopper - he filed in January - but the clock ticked too quickly, and the divorce was not final when he died this morning. Why the race to split up?  Under the prenup, Victoria gets 25% of Dennis' fortune and a $250,000 life insurance payout - but only if they were married and living together when Dennis died. That 'living together' part is critical because Victoria has been living in a separate house, on the same property as Dennis. Sources tell us Victoria will argue that since she was on the property, she was living with Dennis - and is therefore entitled to the big payout. Dennis' high powered attorney Joe Mannis isn't surprised, saying "She said she would challenge it, and I fully expect her to do so." The divorce action is officially over now and this all moves to probate court - where both sides say they're gonna fight."

Double spawn "Céline Dion's dream to expand her family has come true. The singer, 42, is pregnant with twins after undergoing her sixth in-vitro fertilization attempt and turning to acupuncture to improve her chances of a pregnancy, her rep Kim Jakwerth confirms. Dion, mom to 9-year-old son René-Charles, is 14 weeks along. She will find out the gender of the twins next month. "We're ecstatic," her husband/manager René Angelil tells People. "Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy. She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having two is a double blessing!"

Shrek holds on to box office Oooopsie. Not such great openings for SATC2 and that movie featuring Jake Gyllenhaal's muscles. Shrek Forever After made $43 million, while SATC2 had to settle for second place with $32 million. The Price of Persia: Nice Upper Arms was in third with $30 million. Box Office Mojo.

Splitsville "Naveen Andrews and his girlfriend of 12 years, actress Barbara Hershey, have called it quits according to People. His manager says the amicable split happened six months ago. Hershey, 62, and Andrews, 41, met in 1998 on a filmset. Barbara is best known for her roles in Beaches and Hannah and Her Sisters. The two briefly separated in 2005, during which Naveen fathered a son, Naveen Joshua, with another woman. In 2009, Naveen was granted legal and physical custody of his son." Eonline.

That’s not true. Maybe.
