My favourite captains are, of course, Captain Tightpants, Captain Jack Harkness and Captain Kirk, but Captain America looks kinda promising too. EW has this on next summer's big movie:
"For fans of superhero movies, the most patriotic holiday on next year’s calendar won’t fall on July 4th, but exactly 18 days later. That’s when Paramount Pictures will release Captain America: The First Avenger, a big budget adaptation of the Marvel Comics shield-bearing super-soldier. The new issue of Entertainment Weekly offers your first look at star Chris Evans in the hero’s red, white and blue threads — but you can get a peek at the man in uniform right here, right now. Our story also brings you to the set of the London-based production, directed by Joe Johnston (The Wolfman, October Sky). During a break in shooting, Evans — on his second tour of Marvel duty, having played the Human Torch in Fox’s Fantastic Four films — explained he was reluctant to accept the call of Captain America, in part because he had already portrayed a Marvel-ous mystery man. Of course, he also worried about the potential cost of failure, but he also worried the potential cost of fame should the movie be a hit. “At the time, I remember telling a buddy of mine, ‘If the movie bombs, I’m f—-ed. If the movie hits, I’m f—-ed!’” After declining the part three times, Evans took a meeting with Marvel execs and Johnston and was dazzled by their plans for the movie. He still felt wary about suiting up for Captain America — but then he had an epiphany. “I was just scared,” he says. “I realized my whole decision making process was fear based, and you never want to make a decision out of fear.’” Evans signed a six-picture deal with Marvel to play the character, and he has no regrets: “I can’t believe was almost too chicken to play Captain America.” The movie — which also serves to set up Marvel’s 2012 superhero team-up, The Avengers - hews closely to Captain America’s WWII-era origins. The year is 1942, and Steve Rogers is a scrawny lad who desperately wants to fight Nazis for his country but can’t because he’s been deemed physically unfit. His fate — and his physique — is radically transformed when he signs up for Project: Rebirth, a secret military operation that turns wimps into studs using drugs and assorted sci-fi hoo-ha. There’s a love interest (Major Peggy Carter, played Haley Atwell), there’s a sidekick (Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stans), and there’s the Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), Hitler’s treacherous head of advanced weaponry, whose own plan for world domination involves a magical object known as The Tesseract (comic fans know it better as The Cosmic Cube). “The interesting thing about this character is that he’s an everyman who in the course of a few minutes become a perfect human specimen. That has to create some interesting personal issues,” says Johnston. “I saw it as an opportunity to make a superhero movie that felt real, that didn’t have to rely on an overabundance of fantasy elements.”

(On a serious note: If you have a cat who's usually an outdoor cat, keep it indoors starting right now and don't let it out until after Halloween. I know from bitter experience that evil, terrible people (who deserve to be hung by their privates and spat on while rats gnaw their toes) will pick up cats and do terrible things to them around Halloween).

Charlie Sheen's in wicked trouble now But don't worry, it's not going to harm his career. Nothing does. "TMZ has learned ... Capri Anderson, the woman who ended up locking herself in Charlie Sheen's hotel bathroom, will ask Colorado prosecutors to violate Charlie's probation ... on ground he allegedly held her against her will. We've also learned Anderson, aka Christina Walsh, has already lawyered up, hiring a high-profile Beverly Hills attorney -- not Gloria Allred. Our sources say Anderson claims after she locked herself in the bathroom, Charlie tried getting in and began repeatedly punching the door. She alleges she feared for her life. We're told Anderson wants the Pitkin County D.A. to attempt to violate Charlie's probation in the domestic violence case and she plans to fly to Apsen in the next few days to make her case. Sources in Pitkin County tell us as far as the D.A. is concerned, any complaint that criminal activity occurred in New York must be filed in New York, not Pitkin County. We're told, however, that if Anderson flies to Aspen, the D.A. has "an open-door policy" and would see her. As one person on her team told TMZ, beyond the Pitkin case, "We're weighing our legal options." Law enforcement sources in NYC tell TMZ ... when cops interviewed Anderson at the hotel, she did not say she felt Charlie was holding her against her will."
That's it for Big Love "HBO's relationship with Big Love is coming to an end. Next year's previously announced fifth season will be the last for the acclaimed polygamy drama. The Emmy-nominated series will take its final bow the same year as Entourage, which the network is also wrapping up. Big Love returns for its final episodes on Jan. 16. From the release: “It has been an honor and pleasure to work with series creators Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer on this unique and provocative series, and I’m happy that they will be able to bring the story to its close the way they always envisioned,” said Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “We look forward with great anticipation to collaborating with Mark and Will on their next venture.” THR.
Spawn "After months of rumors, Mariah Carey, 41, confirmed on Today that she and husband Nick Cannon, 30, are expecting their first child. The singer, who is keeping her due date under wraps, also revealed that she suffered a miscarriage two years ago. “It’s been a long journey. It’s been tough because I’ve been trying to hold on to a shred of privacy,” she told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush. Carey’s new album, Merry Christmas II You, comes out Nov. 2." EW.
Spawn names "Meet Eddy and Nelson! It took several days, but Céline Dion and her husband René Angélil have finally named their twin sons. The name Eddy comes from Eddy Marnay, who produced the singer’s first five records. “He was like a father to her,” says Dion’s rep. “Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives.” Nelson is named after Nelson Mandela, whom Dion met two years ago while kicking off her world tour in South Africa. “René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,” says the rep. “Céline and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men,” she adds." You're kidding me, right? So, are we going to have polls now before decisions are made as to what bikini-clad nit is going to be on the cover? Popeater has this: "It's not often the editor-in-chief of a magazine sends out a email to subscribers apologizing for content--yet that's exactly what Valerie Latona, editor of Shape Magazine, did this week. E!Online.com reports that enough people complained about LeAnn Rimes gracing the cover of their October issue, that Latona felt she had to address the situation. "You are all in good company... as you all agree Shape has made a terrible mistake in putting LeAnn Rimes on the cover," the editor began. Reportedly, readers were appalled that the publication featured Rimes who had previously admitted to cheating on then-husband Dean Sheremet with also-married Eddie Cibrian. Rimes was featured on the cover along with the headline: 'LeAnn Rimes: How Working Out Saved Me.' "Please know that our putting her on the cover was not meant to put a husband-stealer on a pedestal-but to show (through her story) how we all are human," Latona continued. "And this woman in particular found strength in exercise in what she said was her most difficult personal moment." "But it did not come across that way... And for that I'm terribly sorry. I hope that we can do better the next time for those of you that will give us another chance," she concluded."
Us is all over Justin Timberlake, claiming he's been stepping out with Olivia Munn despite having a totally real and epic love thingy with Jessica Biel:
"Justin Timberlake cheated on Jessica Biel with actress Olivia Munn during a three-day fling this past September DOG, reports the new Us Weekly. Timberlake, 29, and Munn, 30, a Daily Show correspondent who stars in the upcoming NBC series Perfect Couples, first met at a Sept. 26 MySpace event. After exchanging numbers, he DEMON SPAWN "started chasing her immediately," says an insider. SCOUNDREL. Munn resisted his advances, telling him REPREHENSIBLE EXCUSE FOR A MAN it was a no-go if he was still with Biel, 28, the source tells Us Weekly. But Timberlake "has been telling people it’s over with Jessica, even though "the reality is he's just doing it behind her back." Believing he HORRIBLE HUMAN BEING had left Biel and that her relationship with Timberlake might develop into something serious, Munn took him to her hotel, the Gansevoort Park Avenue NYC, Sept. 27 and 28, where "they were openly affectionate," the insider adds. Despite rumors that he had been cheating on her with TV personality Olivia Munn during a weekend in September, a source tells People, "There is no truth to the reports. Olivia Munn is not that type of girl." Last weekend, Timberlake, 29, SAINT was hanging out with Biel in a skybox on Sunday during the dramatic ending of the Justin Timberlake ANGEL Shriners Hosptials for Children Open golf tournament at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas. The actress also spent time with Timberlake's FUTURE NOBEL PRIZE WINNER FOR BEING GOOD family, and was spotted backstage at his Saturday night benefit concert at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, which featured a performance by Christina Aguilera. After the show, the couple continued their night at Haze Nightclub, arriving hand-in-hand around 2 a.m. "They were sitting in a private area of the club," a source tells People. "Most people didn't even know they were there. They were really affectionate and really seemed to be happy." On Tuesday night, the pair stepped out for dinner at Fraiche in Culver City, Calif. Timberlake BENEVOLENT HUMANITARIAN HERO was also by his girlfriend's side on Monday night, supporting her at a screening of a short film she directed, which debuted at the Chateau Marmont. Another source adds, "Justin and Jessica are doing fine."
