Frak you, Syfy From LA Times: "As a prequel spinoff, "Caprica" has tried in vain to capture the imagination of both new viewers and "Battlestar Galactica" stalwarts -- but its journey toward the first Cylon war has been cut short. Syfy has decided not to renew the series for a second season, cutting short the possibility of seeing how cylons get to fully develop (at least in this series). The recently announced "Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome" will have to carry on the storyline. Here's the release that the network's publicity group sent out: The remaining first run episodes of "Caprica" will be removed from the schedule as of next Tuesday, November 2. These final five episodes of the season will be re-scheduled to air at a to-be-announced time in the first quarter of 2011, and will conclude the run of the series."
Splitsville "Miley Cyrus's parents, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus, are divorcing after 17 years of marriage, they tell People. "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family," they say in a statement. "We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers." The couple have five children, including the pop star. Divorce papers were filed Wednesday in Tennessee citing irreconcilable differences." Oooh. Can't wait to find out who did what to whom and how they're going to split up all the loot brought in by their favourite little earner. Also: If they have five children, how come Miley is the only one making an effort to support her parents?
And another Splitsville "Penn Badgley and Blake Lively, both 23, have ended their three-year romance, a rep for the Gossip Girl costars exclusively tells the new Us Weekly (on newsstands now). They called it quits in mid-September. "They’re professionals," an insider tells Us Weekly. "They're still good friends and hang out on the set." The source says that the duo -- who met as preteen actors in L.A. - "kept this news to themselves for a while." Indeed, they have always taken a drama-free approach to their relationship. Badgley told Us last fall that working together while dating didn't present any problems: "Some would say it’s a double-edged sword, but in our case, we manage to balance it well."
I'd watch that "Twenty-four years after his big screen barstool serenade of Kelly McGillis in “Top Gun,” Tom Cruise may be getting ready to “Rock” out again on the big screen. New Line Cinema has offered Tom a supporting role in the upcoming big screen version of “Rock of Ages,” a rep for the box office superstar confirmed to Access Hollywood. The film, an adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, will reportedly star Taylor Swift in the role of Sherrie Christian, which was first played by original Broadway “Legally Blonde” bombshell Laura Bell Bundy in the Los Angeles opening run of the play in 2006. “American Idol” alum Constantine Maroulis was Tony-nominated for his starring role in the production’s Broadway run, which kicked off in 2008; a role which he still plays on the Great White Way. If he takes the gig, Tom would reportedly play a bartender who gets the chance to belt out a handful of ‘80s rock classics. The story follows a young rocker hungry for his big break and a small town girl chasing her dreams, both of whom land on the LA rock scene just as a legendary Hollywood venue is facing its demise."
