Unfinished River Phoenix film to be released THR: "Eighteen years after the sudden death of actor River Phoenix, Dutch director George Sluizer says he will finish Dark Blood, the 1993 drama that Phoenix was shooting when he died of a heart attack on Halloween night outside the Viper Room in Los Angeles. After Phoenix’s death, apparently of a drug overdose, Sluizer took the original Dark Blood footage and kept it hidden fearing, he says, it would be destroyed. The director has now re-edited the material and believes with a few adjustments – using voice over for instance – he can now deliver a final cut of the film for release next year. Sluizer, mainly known for his acclaimed film Spoorloos, remade as The Vanishing starring Jeff Bridges and Kiefer Sutherland, said he plans to ask Phoenix’s brother Joaquin Phoenix to do the film’s voiceover as River’s character Boy. “The voices of both brothers are very much alike,” the director, who has stayed in touch with the Phoenix-family, told THR. In Dark Blood, Phoenix plays a hermit living in the desert on a nuclear testing site as he waits for the end of the world. When a Hollywood jet-set couple (played by Judy Davis and Jonathan Pryce) arrives to find shelter, he begins a troubled relationship with the wife."
Kardashians upset over Obama TMZ: "The Kardashian clan says they were completely blindsided when Michelle Obama revealed that Barack doesn't like when their daughters watch their reality show ... insisting the President has them pegged all wrong. The K-squad is telling friends ... they read Michelle's new interview with iVillage ... in which she said, "Barack really thinks some of the Kardashians - when they watch that stuff - he doesn't like that as much." We're told the Kardashians were "surprised" by the news ... because Obama personally told Khloe he thought "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" was a "great show" when they met last year. In fact, the Kardashians believe Sasha and Malia could actually LEARN something from the show ... because it features girls in real-life situations facing real-life problems ... health, relationships, the whole gamut."
Spawn People: "French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy gave birth to a daughter – her first child with French President Nicolas Sarkozy – on Wednesday in Paris, Le Figaro reports. Bruni-Sarkozy, 43, who confirmed her pregnancy in July, delivered around 8 p.m. at the Clinique de la Muette after arriving earlier in the day. The baby girl, whose name is unknown, is the first child born to a ruling French leader since Napoleon. Prior to giving birth, the singer/actress said she will not be releasing photos of the baby, insisting that the French people would not be interested in them anyway."
More spawn "Just six months after adopting her second child, a girl named Amaya Josephine, Mariska Hargitay has once again added to her brood -- bringing home a son, Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann, a source confirms to Us Weekly. Why such a quick second adoption for the Law and Order: SVU star and husband Peter Hermann, who also have a biological son, August, 5? "He was a preemie," born in the United States about three months early, explains the insider. "He and Amaya are just a few months apart." Hargitay, 47, and theater actor Hermann, 44, adopted Amaya back in April. "Their hearts were so opened by the [first] adoption," the source says of Hargitay and Hermann, married since 2004. "So they couldn't imagine NOT taking the opportunity to bring another baby into the family."
