Oscars, blah, blah THR"Brian Grazer has accepted the Academy's urgent request that he step in to replace Brett Ratner as producer of the 84th Academy Awards. As The Hollywood Reporter first reported, Academy president Tom Sherak moved quickly to reboot the venerable awards show, which had lost one of its producers as well as host Eddie Murphy, who announced Wednesday that he was withdrawing from the show in the wake of Ratner's departure the previous day. Grazer, a producer of the upcoming J. Edgar, was at the top of the list of producers whom Sherak approached to come aboard and co-produce the show along with the previously announced Don Mischer. Grazer's first order of business will be naming a new host. It will be the first time Grazer, who won the best picture award in 2001 for A Beautiful Mind, has produced the telecast, scheduled for Feb. 26."

His and hers CMA awards People: "Newlyweds Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert took home a pair of CMA Awards Wednesday night, for male and female vocalist of the year, respectively. "Congrats to my hubby too," Lambert said in her acceptance speech and, addressing her husband: "It's gonna be a good night tonight baby!" ... At their first time attending the CMAs as nominees, The Band Perry had three big reasons to celebrate. The country trio – composed of siblings Kimberly Perry, Reid Perry and Neil Perry – took home honors for new artist of the year, single of the year and song of the year for their hit single "If I Die Young" at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. "We have six pairs of fingers crossed," Kimberly Perry said on the red carpet before their heart-and-soulful ballad swept. Taylor Swift took home the night's biggest prize, entertainer of the year. "You have made my year," she said, giving shout outs to singers she's collaborated with, including Justin Bieber, Kenny Chesney and Nicki Minaj. Also picking up a trophy: Sugarland, consisting of Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush, who were crowned the vocal duo of the year ... Continuing their reign for the past two years, Lady Antebellum once again took home honors for vocal group of the year. Jason Aldean also won big for album of the year for "My Kinda Party."the year, respectively."

Jessica Simpson's child to be born out of wedlock. So sad "Jessica Simpson isn't going to be a pregnant bride! The 31-year-old confirmed last month that she and fiance Eric Johnson were expecting their first child, but the Fashion Star mentor tells Us Weekly she and Johnson won't be saying "I do" until after the baby is born. "We were always going to wait [until] after the baby" she explained. "We flirted around with different dates before I found out I was pregnant, and thankfully we didn't lock anything down. I want to enjoy the day… I'm glad we didn't make a deposit." "I just didn't want to be stressed out," Simpson, who got engaged to Johnson in Nov. 2010, said. "Now when I get stressed out it's like 50 times worse. So I really want to enjoy that day and now I get to have my baby with me."

Stargazing blog by Malene Arpe

  • Malene’s interests and hobbies include Schadenfreude, sci-fi and fantasy (good and bad alike), hilarious hair pieces, age-inappropriate celebrity crushes, messed-up starlets, waiting for the next Star Trek movie, hating Björk, creative profanity, disobedient robots, fake celebrity relationships, post-apocalyptic dread, singing super-villains, baseball, David Beckham (but only when he keeps his mouth shut), vampires and knitting tiny sweaters for her seven cats. That’s not true. Maybe.
