"Britain's Got Talent" winner does TTC "flash opera"

Paul Potts, a "pop opera tenor" who won the Britain's Got Talent contest in 2007, surprised TTC riders at Union Station with a busker-like (except for the tux) rendition on "What A Wonderful World" last Friday.

The small crowd quickly grows, with many of the commuters whipping out camera phones. It's clear many do not know who Potts is, and are just enjoying the unexpected spectacle. "Well done, what's your name again?" asks one after Potts finishes to loud applause, hearty congratulations and requests for photos.

Enjoy the sustained high note at 2:45 on "I love you."

Cry every time I hear Paul Potts. WAHHHHH.

Ah, the greatest thing about the subway and the city - the people you'll meet and see. Wish I was there to see it, would've been great.

His performance on X Factor (Youtube it) is amazing. He was in Toronto a couple of years ago doing the promo rounds for his debut album.

Sorry, Britain's got talent, not X Factor.

Just look at the diversity of the audience; and all to hear a 'boy' from South Wale. I guess we can honestly say "Only in Toronto".

That sustained note gave me the shivers - he has amazing talent!!

No offence, he has a wonderful voice. but that is a butchered attempt at the song. no feeling, all calculated. I'm sure, technically it's wonderful, but there's no real feeling to it. Louis sang from the soul, he sings from his diaphragm. again, not bashing, just a matter of subjective opinion. cheers

Nobody dropped any change for him. How cheap!

Paul Potts you are THE MAN!!! miss Toronto big time!! it's a mistake moving here in the U S!! I miss the crisp air in November!! Dragon Centre and of course i miss my beloved Pickering!!! GO LEAFS GO!!
