One Last Push

The Maple Leafs, with a heartbreaking loss to Montreal still fresh in their minds and a toughie against Buffalo tonight, still want to make their team better.

Jamal Mayers, it appears, isn't going to happen. But Leaf GM John Ferguson has made an aggressive pitch for former Maple Leaf Yanic Perreault, currently with the Phoenix Coyotes.

The Coyotes wanted to sign Perreault, be the veteran centre was looking to make a contractual splash now or go into unrestricted free agency July 1st. The Leafs are looking to give up Brendan Bell and a draft pick.

Now the Leafs are trying to get him. Stay posted.

Comments

Leafs should never have hired Ferguson to be their general manager. He is the worst manager that they ever had. They should get rid of him now and hire a real manager who knows how to improve a team.

The Spin on Sports by Damien Cox

  • Damien Cox, the Star's hockey columnist and associate sports editor, takes turns stirring up trouble and chuckling at the foibles of the sporting world.
