Waiting in line for 'Lucky'

Back @ AMC for screening of Lucky, the story of an AIDS orphan who is forced to leave his village to go to Durban and bonds with an elderly Indian woman. The film explores violence, racism and indifference in post-apartheid South Africa. I'm looking forward to seeing vistas of South Africa again. I was there in 2008 for the Star. Am really looking forward to the movie by Avie Luthra but not looking forward to lining up and standing on concrete floors.  I've gone to line up and find they've moved the line into the cinema. My lucky feet. We're standing on marble so it's not as bad as concrete. As we wait, a TIFF employee tries to sell memberships. No takers so far! -- Debra Black
