Wheeling and dealing at TIFF

There have been few deals made so far at TIFF but distributors are finally starting to get their chequebooks out. I ran into Australian director Daniel Nettheim on King St. just outside the Lightbox Sunday afternoon and he shared the good news that his drama The Hunter, starring Willem Dafoe, has sold and will make it to theatres. He wouldn't say who had picked it up, fearing he wasn't supposed to be talking about a deal yet. The Hunter has been one of the films earning early buzz at TIFF, a dramatic mystery that follows mercenary Martin (Dafoe) who heads to the wilds of Tasmania to search for the last remaining Tasmanian Tiger - if it actually still exists.
