Toronto guy nets trip of a lifetime with Cathay Pacific; not bad.

This came over today from the folks at Cathay Pacific, and it's enough to make me jealous.

"Toronto resident Michael Corey has won the grand prize in the international “Travel the World in 80 Days with Cathay Pacific” competition.

Michael beat out nearly 4,000 other entries from around the world, all vying for a chance to win the grand prize – 80 days of unlimited flights during the summer anywhere Cathay and sister airline, Dragonair, flies. In return he will be blogging, tweeting and posting about his experiences on behalf of the airline on its social media channels. Corey is no stranger to travel, having hosted his own travel blog to talk about his adventures – all of which gave him great experience to finish as a finalist and then win the Cathay Pacific competition."

Not dad. 80 days (and nights I suppose) of UNLIMITED flights. Reasonable chance Corey will get to see the Great Wall near Beijing, the Terra Cotta Warriors, The Bund in Shanghai, the nightlife of Bangkok, the towers and lovely islands of Hong Kong, and a whole lot more.

And I thought I had a good job....

HOW COME THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ME?

USA TODAY says passengers on a Delta flight likely got more than they bargained for Saturday night after an "emotionally disturbed" woman stripped naked and created a ruckus on their Chicago-to-New York journey.

Associated Press said the incident happened Saturday night as Delta Flight 6562 began its descent into Kennedy Airport," adding that a Newsday newspaper manager on the flight  said  flight attendants tried to cover the woman with a blanket while she yelled 'No! No! No!' "

Me? Last time I flew was on Air India and a little old lady put her bare feet up on my arm rest, then tried to steal my pillows when I wasn't using them. I've flown hundreds of times and never had a naked woman on the plane...not that I really want the disruption.

The older I get, the happier I am with a nice glass of wine and a few hours of sleep next to someone who hasn't had a garlic sandwich for dinner and not sitting behind the guy who likes to slam his seat back at the speed of light and spill said glass of wine all over my lap...

I'm actually on a flight tonight from Toronto to Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific, so we'll see. From there I'll head to Bangkok for a couple days, then on to Hanoi and Ha Long Bay and then a stop in Hong Kong, one of my favourite cities in the world, for a quick 24 hour visit. Talk to you along the way, for sure.

Jim!
Thanks so much for the write up.
I have to say I'm extremely excited, and you're right... The Great Wall, Bangkok and Hong Kong are all on the list.
I also plan on injecting some adrenaline into my trip with shark diving in South Africa and partying Filipino style at some of their many festivals in June.
If anyone would like to be part of the 80 day adventure, you can catch all the action on the Cathay Pacific Facebook fanpage, or on my personal Blog: http://kickthegrind.tv

Can't wait!

Mike Corey
