Predictions: Day 7

Argentina vs. South Korea

At Johannesburg, 7:30 a.m.

TV: CBC, TLN (Spanish)

Weather: 4C, clear

The Game: Based on their play in their first games, this may turn out to be an unexpected glamour tilt. The South Koreans manhandled lacklustre Greece, while Argentina were only a few degrees from finding their perfect rhythm. South Korea will certainly come out more cautiously, but this may be the game where Lionel Messi — who dominated Nigeria — breaks out.

Prediction: Argentina 3, Korea 2

Greece vs. Nigeria, 10 a.m.

At Mangaung, 10 a.m.

TV: CBC, TLN (Spanish)

Weather: 8C, sunny

The Game: After repulsing insistent Argentina for 90 minutes in their opener, the Nigerians now get to take a breather against Greece. Well, let’s hope they aren’t thinking that way, because the Hellenic men have shown their resilience before. They looked awful against South Korea, but a battling performance here puts them right back in the thick of Group B.

Prediction: Nigeria 2, Greece 0

France vs. Mexico

At Polokwane, 2:30 p.m.

TV: CBC, TLN (Spanish)

Weather: 12C, sunny

The Game: Back to Polokwane, where the Slovenians and Algerians complained so bitterly about the hybrid pitch. This was supposed to be the quality game of this group, though France didn’t look like much of anything in their opener. Mexico came in and out of their game against South Africa. Look for a much elevated performance by both sides, and a battling draw.

Prediction: France 2, Mexico 2
