Jon Voight thinks Barack Obama is a Marxist

Conservative actor Jon Voight held court at an exceptionally long media scrum on Tuesday. Here was his response when he was asked, as he was leaving, whether he thinks Barack Obama is a Marxist:

Here are more of his thoughts on Marxism:

And, finally: Listen to him talk about how Barack Obama will hurt his grandchildren! See him get pulled away for an "exclusive" interview with E!

Obama is a right of center corporatist/capitalist. Voight wouldn't know a Marxist if one came up and shook his hand.

Obama's father was an anti-imperialist Marxist. His mother was a Marxist. And her parents who helped raise him were Marxists. His mentors were Marxists. Is he a Marxist? All of his education materials, including courses taken and transcripts, were sealed on his first day of office. Marxist transparency? Certainly unprecedented mystery about whether he gained financial advantage by applying as a foreign student (he was born in Hawaii but grew up in Indonesia). How far from the tree does the apple fall? His memoir, Dreams from My Father, suggests not far. He started Occidental College as a committed Marxist.

Title of the article should be "Why Jon Voight THINKS that Obama is a Marxist." Seriously now, where does the Star get these partisan writers?

Barack Obama thinks John Voight is an uninformed idiot.

Some of the reasons there was prosperity when he was growing up was strong unions and high income taxes on the rich. Things have been getting worse since Neo-liberals took over in the 1980s.

Need new headline. John Voigt Should Stick To Acting. Saw Victoria Jackson's psychotic attack last night, funniest stuff evar. I guess that's what happens when you were never funny and can't do the splits anymore. Doesn't explain Voigt's ignorance, but then when you're an actor you don't have to actually know anything. Just hit your mark and say your line. Good boy.

So apparently Victoria Jackson and John Voight are the same person. I won't bother with a whole new comment, just see what I wrote about Ms. Jackson yesterday.

Poor president Obama. He can't just be a guy they disagree with. He's got to be a Communist, Socialist, Marxist, Racist, Terrorist, Radical, Muslim or Kenyan. It would be a whole lot easier for the Republicans if we could just rehabilitate the good ol "N-word". It would save them the trouble of constantly having to think up new slurs to hurl at Barry.

All I know is when is the CHANGE and HOPE and PROSPERTY
Obama promised going to start??????

still waiting.....still waiting.....still waiting......still waiting.

Boy are the Media and Hollywood guilible or what

I have to laugh at some of these comments. It would seem many of you think Jon Voight should "stick to acting". I suspect, though, that if his views agreed with yours, you'd be praising him to high heaven and glowing about how intelligent he was.

Voight is the modern day political visionary that will lead the world. I think he should go for presidency instead of Romney. And Angelina Jolie can bring up all the good deeds of him.

dear notallama;
too funny and so true:)

Then John Voight has no clue what a Marxist is

Why should the opinion of a "has been" celebrity matter....that is worse than asking for opinions from market analysts and university professors.

Can we start putting "conservative" in scare quotes when describing these clowns? There's nothing conservative about them, nor about anyone who would consider Obama to be a Marxist (or even left-of-centre, for that matter). They're radicals and bigots, put off by the fact that their president is a black man. They can't attack him on policy or performance, so they stoop to name-calling in an effort to paint him as something other than American.

Ah, thank you j-rock for that insightful comment. Of course the republicans must be closet-racists! Otherwise, the only explanation for them not agreeing with Barack Obama's presidency might be the nation's crippling debt, government spending, criminal 'fast and furious' programs that kill law-enforcement agents, continuing huge bailouts that screw the taxpayer, Solyndra, or massive government intrusion into personal choice for health care. Yeah, it must be because they are racists, that's the ticket!

No wonder Angelina can't stand him, I can't and I don't even know him.

But isn't Jon Voight nuts?!

John Voight is an aged, washed-up actor whose best roles are behind him. Why do people continue to look up to these people as sages?

Is the the same guy whom Angelia Jolie renounced as her father. There's a model Republican, says the family is important but their kids hate them.

Who cares what he thinks...

@ David; got a real chuckle from your comment re. Victoria Jackson and her splits. As I recall, that's all she ever did, the splits, while grinning like a cheshire cat and talking some innane drivel. She probably can't do squat now, but, on second thought, perhaps she can do one squat. lol.

Voight doesnt even know the meaning of the word Marxist. If there are any extremists in the US its the ones who took over the GOP and have driven Conservatives and moderate Conservative out.

The only good thing to come of Jon Voight is his daughter. Other than that he's a waste and also a very bad actor to boot.

@Mark:

I know this may be asking a lot, but re-read my earlier post, and THINK about it for a moment.

My point was that a significant amount of the criticism the president has had to face, since before he was even elected, has nothing to do with his policies. He's had to put up with a lowly congressman openly disrespecting him during a state of the union address ("You lie!"), the "birther" nonsense, and people constantly calling him all of the names I previously listed. These are not in any way related to his policies, or the manner in which he governs. They're personal, and are thinly-veiled attempts to portray him as "un-American", or somehow "different" - and yes, there is a very distinct racial tone to a great deal of it.

I won't even bother with the racist bile from the likes of Rush Limbaugh, who has millions of followers who hang on his every word. Do I think that anyone who disagrees with the president is a racist? Of course not. But it is naive and disingenuous to pretend that a lot of the opposition to him is not motivated in some way by race.

Was that clear enough for you?
