Mia Love, rising star
Congressional candidate Mia Love has the most interesting biography of any Republican convention speaker: black, 36 years old, daughter of Haitian immigrant parents, convert to Mormonism, mayor, and...from Utah. Given a prime speaking spot Tuesday night by a party starved for diversity, she delivered a fiery and rapturously received two-minute speech in which she directly addressed Barack Obama.
"Mr. President," she said in her biggest applause line, "I am here to tell you we are not buying what you are selling in 2012."
Love would be the first female black Republican member of Congress. You'll probably be hearing a lot more from her. Here's her post-speech "video press release":

Haitian parents? Black? I want to see her birth certificate. Clearly she's a plant set up by the Republicans almost 4 decades ago.

I think I have a crush on this woman! Come run in Canada!.

I have to wonder what planet some people are on to even consider a vote for the GOP never mind actually running for Congress on their platform. However, once again religion overpowers good sense. The GOP is the party of white middle class. It is the party of anti-everything except making money for big corporations and guns. Anything else is verboten. One has only to look at the sea of predominantly white faces at the RNC Convention to know just what this party's agenda is. However, they badly need some diverse faces in their ranks to "prove" they are not the racist, anti-gay, anti-women party that they are.

Reply to Mia Love: I'm NOT buying what YOU are selling!!!!!!!!!!! Pathetic attempt at getting media attention and become a 'rising star' a la Palin....and see what that got her!!! Lots of smoke, no fire. Lots of sizzle, no steak. Flash in the pan if ever there was one.

Funny how the only minorities at the RNC are either onstage or journalists. I certainly didn't see very many among the assembled delegates.

does anyone remember the last GOP rising star ( bobby jindal) the guy who looked like Kenneth from 30 rock ? How's that going for him ? how's the rogue hockey mom doing ?
Mia Love has an interesting story, but her only experience is being mayor of a very small town in Utah and is currently trailing the incumbent democrat. She could win or she could be the next christine Odonell ( sans the witchcraft).

if Romney gets in power....the world is in BIG trouble, more wars, more people will live in poverty in the US, and the world overall will suffer because of him! just crazy how these people think. HOw about respect for all, equality for all and not having to pay up the butt for health and education!?

Let's hope that none of the delegates threw peanuts at her like they did the black CNN camera person.

well finding black American ladies who like the GOP is equivalent to finding a needle in a HAYSTACK
most MINORITIES IN THE USA KNOW WHO THE GOP are and their positions on RACE...period!!!
Just a few minorities speaking does NOT CHANGE A THING

Wow. Are these people really that stupid? This woman claims her mother has never accepted any help from anyone - but she's an immigrant. She's going to claim that she's against the policies of democrats but she's married to a white man. If she were to try to marry in the U.S.A. when I was a young girl, she would have found that the Republicans, the party she is supporting, would have forbid her to marry outside her race as it was considered as much an abomination as gay marriage. The most basic equalities which allow her to run for this vile party today were handed to her by democrats with their right wing counterparts kicking, screaming and claiming hell fire all the way.

I agree Mary, Mayor Love needs to get back on the DNC plantation. How dare she support a party that pushes personal responsibility and represents the highest percentage of charitable contributions. She should support the DNC and its 5 trillion in deficit spending in 3.5 years, 3.5 years of unemployment greater than 8%, 3.5 years of the lowest gdp growth since record keeping started, and 700 billion in medicare cuts. by the way, why did the party of "tolerance" go to her wikipedia site and use racial slurs to describe her? I thought Democrats were all for inclusion and tolerance?

Obviously, Mia has had an easy time of life. Good upbringing, parents "who never took any handouts" - whatever that's supposed to mean, a good education, she married the right guy and they have healthy children. These people just don't have empathy for anyone who goes through a rough time. They believe in survival of the fittest. She says that life is about being strong. But what if you're not strong? Mia and her buddies would kick you to the curb. These Republicans are a rotten bunch of spoiled brats. I just can't stomach their ideology. It's just so offensive to me, and I believe most Canadians. Did you hear Ann Romney talk about moving with Mitt to a basement apartment, last night? Who is she trying to fool? They were already millionaires at the time. His father was governor of Michigan! I'd love to see what that little apartment looked like!

First of all Sandman, Jindal is busy trying to work in his State since it is under water right now and I get tired of people that talk this crap when they have never read a Constitution of a Country that lays in Turmoil. Read the US Constitution then try again. Until then, quit doing the job of the Libtard Media and get some common sense that works.

James,
Bobby jindal became fodder for comedians after his abysmal response to the state of the union. He went from rising star to punch line in 15 minutes, much the same way that Christine odonnell did. Could Mia love have staying power, she might if she can get elected. Then again she could be the next in line of GOP rising stars to flame out.

GOP economic policies are better (Long term) for all people: brown, black, white, or yellow. Short term, no. Long term, yes. Obama has you convinced that a handout beats a free market with low unemployment. The GOP will credit employers, small and large. The big Government machine will crush them below the IRON HEEL, and tax the top end of income earners until the state owns enough resources to make you believe you need them. Choice is easy.
