The ABCs of the RNC: Super PACS v 501(c)(4) nonprofits

In America, thanks to two 2010 federal court rulings, you can support your candidate by contributing to a Super PAC or a 501 (c) (4) non-profit.

What's the difference?

Super PACS (e.g. Priorities USA) can spend unlimited amounts of money as long as they don't coordinate with political campaign teams. They have to disclose who their donors are.

501 (c) (4) (e.g. Americans for Prosperity) non-profits are "social welfare" organizations. They do not have to disclose their donors.
