There are a couple of advantages campaigning as a presidential incumbent, though this might be the first time White House recipes are used as arsenal.
Over the long weekend before the DNC, the White House released recipes for its beer.
With public excitement about White House beer fermenting a buzz, we decided we better hop right to it," reads a post titled "Ale to the Chief" by Sam Kass, the White House Assistant Chef and the Senior Policy Advisor for Healthy Food Initiative. "So without any further ado, America – this one's for you."
Demand for the recipes was spurred by intense public interest and, eventually, an online petition.
One recipe is for Honey Porter beer, made with Munich Malt, black malt and chocolate malt. The other for Honey Ale, made with Biscuit Malt, amber crystal malt and Fuggles Hop pellets.
Both recipes have another a secret (I think) White House ingredient: "White House Honey."
