The death toll in Philippines from Typhoon Conson rose Thursday to 37, with 48 still missing, though the Conson was downgraded to tropical storm status.
Different storm systems meanwhile looked set to batter other countries in the region, leading to severe flooding in China and the evacuation of hundreds of thousands in Japan.
