Snow squalls to batter cottage country

A snow squall watch has been issued for Barrie, Orillia, Midland, Muskoka and Parry Sound, with Environment Canada predicting 30 to 40 centimetres of snow by Friday night.

The snow is expected to arrive with wind gusting to 80 km/h.

Environment Canada also issued a flash freeze warning for the northern outskirts of the GTA Friday morning. The quick drop in temperatures after last night's rain means there may be ice on some roads.

The warning was for Newmarket, Georgina, Uxbridge, and the northern parts of York and Durham regions.

Ontario Provincial Police reported several small collisions early Friday morning near Highway 11 and Highway 400. The overnight rain rapidly freezing caused hazardous conditions on the roads.

There will not be ice on the roads, there was enough salt for the whole winter

Bring it on! It isn't winter in Canada without snow, and LOTS of it. It will give the ski resorts a big boost when they really need it. And a good snowstorm usually kicks off Christmas shopping.

Going to get my skis out now ....

The main problem with drivers in Canada in the winter is SPEED . We live on a highway and watch as they go flying by. It doesn`t matter what it is doing out they still drive to fast . Slow down people.
