Heavy rain on the way
A wet week is in store for the GTA.
Environment Canada issued a special weather statement warning of heavy rainfall for much of the work week, as a low pressure system makes its way from the U.S.
The showers could be heavy toward the end of the night and taper off early Tuesday morning before another bout of heavy rain is expected to sweep through the city and last until Friday.
Thunderstorms are expected overnight Tuesday.
A total rainfall of 30 mm to 40 mm is expected by Wednesday — that’s more than the total April rainfall last year of 36 mm.
This April’s rainfall is up to 64 mm, but with this week’s rainfall we will likely be close to the 2009 monthly rainfall of 129 mm.
The rainfall has prompted the Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority to issue a safety bulletin about threats of rising creeks and rivers in the Durham Region.
Temperatures will hover around double-digit mark for most of the week, with a high of 13 C Monday, 17 C Tuesday and Wednesday, and back to 13 C Thursday and Friday.
