Wisdom the sexagenarian albatross's baby chick: first pics
First baby pictures are a lucrative enterprise if you're a celebrity: Forbes reports that People and Hello! magazines paid Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt $15 million for exclusive photos of their twins.
It's unclear what, if anything, Wisdom the celebrity albatross charged the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for this adorable picture of her newly hatched chick, Mana'olana:
Mana'olana means "Hope" in Hawaiian, according to Wisdom's Facebook page. Wisdom is a startlingly long-lived albatross -- somewhere in the vicinity of 62 years old -- who is also impressively fecund. She made headlines this month when she hatched her sixth chick in as many consecutive years.
The pink bands on Mana'olana's sweet little albatross feet are for monitoring purposes, according to the USFWS.
Wisdom and Mana'olana live on the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, a tiny island between Hawaii and Japan.
