IKEA goes solar

0090742_PE224942_S3 "Spring is coming. Spring is coming. Really," has been my mantra during the last few gloomy days. And, to fuel this attempt at optimism, I've been eying new decor for my deck, starting with the fab outdoor furniture I featured last week.

Today, I'm shopping outdoor lighting. And I'm happy to have come across SOLIG, a new line of solar-powered lights from IKEA. I'm particularly taken with the paper lantern style model, shown right, which is $9.99 a pop and comes in several colours.

The lights come with a solar cell panel and have an auto mode, which turns on automatically at dusk and off when it grows lighter. They also have an on-off switch.

With a fully charged battery, the light is supposed to last for about 11 hours.

The lights aren't available in their online store, but I'll be keeping an eye out for them next time I make the trek to the good old yellow and blue!

Have you spotted any great outdoor decor for spring?

neat! i just really wonder how long they last and how much sun they need to charge properly. i've heard good and bad things about solar powered lights and i can't decide if it's possible for them to be as practical as powered ones.
