Armed with a paint brush and mop ...
With the drywall and plaster repair all done, Mr. Speedy and I are starting to actually unpack and enjoy all of our new home!
But man, was it a lot of work to get there. We started priming spots last week, but really hunkered down this weekend. Saturday and Sunday were spent priming and cleaning, with a run to the hardware store when we ran out of primer midway. In my defence, it's awfully hard to estimate surface area when you're looking at a one-foot patch here, a three-inch blotch there ...
We mowed the lawn. We cleaned. We went shopping for a dehumidifier (which is making a huge difference in our basement!). It was an exhausting, messy and not remotely glamorous way for a young couple to spend their weekend. But we powered through!
The past two days, I was busy wiping away dust, then wiping it away again mere moments later (does it ever really go away?). I moved furniture around to its semi-permanent resting spots, washed down walls and mopped the floors.
I even did a little bit of primping, pulling out selected photos and pillows and setting them up in the living room.
While I still feel like I may be sweeping, mopping and wiping up drywall and plaster dust for the rest of my natural life, and there are still a lot of small projects to do over the coming months, it's starting to feel like a home instead of a bunch of box-filled rooms!
