Typographical love
I've always loved words. From the time I was about six or seven (once I'd given up on being a ballerina), I told everyone that I was going to be a writer when I grew up. And, sure enough, I spend every day working with, writing, and enjoying words!
So, it's probably not surprising that I've got a thing for typography in decor. As we decorate the new Casa Speedy, the ampersand — my favourite typographical symbol (yeah, I get teased about that statement a lot) — will be making several appearances, as will a variety of other text-based wares, including that cute tea print I wrote about on Tuesday.
And, in following up on that piece, I wanted to let you know that you can get Keep Calm and Carry On reproductions right here in Toronto at SoHo Art & Custom Framing, at $15 for a small print and $19 for the larger 16 x 20.
And, while I do love the history of vintage reproductions, there's also a lot of fab contemporary typographical prints.
I spend a lot of time browsing the wide assortment on Etsy (a great source for affordable artwork too) and I also drool over the work by Jennifer Ramos of MadeByGirl.com.
Her "ABC Love print" ($45) has popped up in many magazines and blogs, and she's also got a customizable version for kids names (starting at $50).
And, for all of us who spend our days primarily online, I can't help but enjoy the "Blogs and coffee" print, shown.
