French King Henri IV's face reconstructed - Editor's Choice - Picture of the Day - February 12, 2013
A panel of forensic scientists have identified this mummified head as that of French King Henri IV (1553-1610), who was murdered at the age of 57 on May 14, 1610, by a fanatic. Below is a computer generated image that reconstructs what Henri IV may have looked like. Scientists headed by France's Philippe Charlier found a common genetic profile between the mummified head of Henri IV and dried blood from his descendant, Louis XVI.
